Gorwydd Caerphilly

Wednesday, February 15th, 2017

To tie in with St. David’s Day on the 1st March, we have picked a Welsh cheese for our Cheese of the Month. Gorwydd Caerphilly is available from our cheese fridges at both Little Budworth and Lower Stretton.

Gorwydd Caerphilly is an artisan, raw milk, cloth bound cheese made at Gorwydd Farm in Llanddewi Brefi, in the shadows of the Cambrian mountains. The cheesemakers Todd, Maugan and Kim Trethowan follow a traditional method by working the curds by hand, then maturing the cheese for 3 months. This gives the Gorwydd Caerphilly a deep flavour that is still fresh and clean tasting with slight citrus notes, combined with a creamy texture.
