The Botanist

Tuesday, September 27th, 2016

October’s ‘Gin of the Month’ is The Botanist. The Botanist Islay Dry Gin is a highly distinctive, complex, floral gin with an outstanding finish. It is distilled at the Islay whisky distillery Bruichladdich in a Lomond still called ‘Ugly Betty’. In addition to 9 classic gin botanicals, it has 22 local botanicals, including apple mint birch leaves, creeping thistle flowers and heather. These are picked by their expert foraging team from the windswept hills, peat bogs and Atlantic shores of the Hebridean Island of Islay. There are big notes of citrus, delicate menthol, herbs and flowers.

Drink this gin as a citrus classic served with ice, a wedge of lime with two parts tonic to one part gin. For a more herbal taste, replace the lime wedge with a sprig of thyme.
