Over 50 Gins Now in Stock
Gin lovers rejoice; World Gin Day falls this year on Saturday 13th June! World Gin Day is a celebration of all things gin, which gives us an excuse (not that we need one) to treat ourselves to a large gin and tonic. Rob, our store manager at Lower Stretton, has been working hard to create a handpicked selection of gins for us to sell and we have over 50 gins now in stock!
6 O’clock Gin is a clean, smooth and richly flavoured gin with fresh citrus on the nose. This gin has subtle juniper flavour with a delicate balance of botanicals including coriander, orange peel and elderflower. The makers recommend that you combine their precisely balanced 6 O’clock gin with their perfect 6 O’clock tonic to create your own moment of “ginspiration”. Rob also recommends adding pomegranate to give the drink a summer edge. Over June at The Hollies when you buy a 70cl bottle of 6 O’clock gin we will give you a four pack of 6 O’clock tonic absolutely free (while stocks last).
Hunters Cheshire Gin is a single batch distilled London dry gin that includes a unique blend of citrus botanicals and apples sourced from the company founder’s own orchard and the Norton Priory Gardens in the heart of Cheshire. This gin is based on a 300 year old recipe conceived in Cheshire and made in England- the home of London dry gin, by traditional gin distillers at the Langley Distillery. It has subtle citrus overtones and a spiced fruit edge. We recommend Hunters Cheshire gin is served with a large block of ice, a splash of elderflower cordial, topped up with apple juice and garnished with a lemon wheel.
The Botanist Islay Dry Gin is a highly distinctive, complex, floral gin with an outstanding finish. In addition to 9 classic gin botanicals, it has 22 local botanicals, picked by their expert foraging team from the windswept hills, peat bogs and Atlantic shores of the Hebridean Island of Islay. There are big notes of citrus, delicate menthol and flowers everywhere. This gin is best served in a martini with only the slightest splash of Vermouth.
Fifty Pounds Gin is a small batch distilled gin where the careful selection and perfect combination of its natural ingredients give this gin exceptional smoothness. It is slightly earthy with a lovely complexity of juniper and lime peel with an almost minty freshness and a pleasant balancing sweetness. The name Fifty Pounds Gin comes from the time of George II and the 1736 Gin Act. During a period known as the “Gin Craze” where about one in three households we distilling and selling dubious quality gin, a £50 tax was levied on those wishing to produce and sell gin, to try and control the production and quality. Best served over ice with a good wedge of lime and 1724 tonic water or alternatively for a more summery flavour try it with Fentimans Rose Lemonade.
