Holly Days Gin

Wednesday, October 4th, 2017

At the very tip of the British Isles lie the Shetland Islands, where the North Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. It is a place of mystery and secrets. Of long summer days and long winter nights. Of dramatic weather.

Emerging from this remote community is the Saxa Vord Distillery, the most northerly in the UK, started by four people sharing a passion for producing top quality products in local communities.

Distilled at Shetland’s only distillery, is a gin made exclusively for The Hollies Farm Shops this winter; Holly Days Gin.

Holly Days Gin is a celebration of winter – Shetland Reel have taken the very best of their award-winning Shetland Reel Original and added a festive warmth! This gin has more juniper, more spice and more citrus than their Original. This gin still uses delicate apple mint from Baltasound, Unst like the original and is bottled at the same strength – 43% abv.

Tasting Notes:
Lots of juniper and citrus on the nose making the gin very appealing. On the palate, there is juniper up front, followed by the citrus and then the coriander seed at the end. Very clean and not over powering but still full of flavour.

Best served with 1 part gin to 2 parts tonic and a wedge of orange studded with cloves.
