Louise Mulgrew Designs

Ed, Sean and Angie from The Barn at Little Budworth travelled to Spring Fair, the UK’s number one gift and home trade event back in February and found a fabulous new card designer; Louise Mulgrew Designs.

Louise studied illustration at Loughborough University, graduating in the Summer of 2014 with a First Class Honours Degree and a digital publishing contract for her children’s book idea; Tibbo’s Trunk. Tibbo’s Trunk is a tale of an orphaned elephant with a very troublesome trunk which was inspired by a visit to Kenya where she spent time in an elephant orphanage. This was the beginning of her obsession for drawing loveable and playful animals!

After working freelance for a year after university, Louise decided to branch out on her own and officially launched her brand of greetings cards at Spring Fair. Louise says her designs always start off as pencil scribbles, often taking several attempts until she feels she has captured the essence of the animal and the sentiment to go with it. She then combines pen, ink and watercolours to create colourful inky washes with intricate line-work.

Louise’s colourful and quirky designs feature lots of fantastic animals celebrating all occasions, and are now available at both Little Budworth and Lower Stretton.
