Marketing Cheshire Award Winners

Monday, October 7th, 2019

The winners of the 15th Marketing Cheshire Annual Tourism Awards were announced on the 3rd October at a glittering awards ceremony at The Mere Golf Resort & Spa in Knutsford hosted by TV presenter Lucy Nicholls.

The Awards, attended by over 300 guests representing attractions, hotels and businesses across the county, celebrated excellence and outstanding achievement in Cheshire tourism. These businesses are all part of Cheshire’s booming tourist economy. Guests were treated to welcome drinks, followed by a delicious 3 course dinner created by the Chefs at The Mere.

A group of 12 of Team Hollies, (glad rags and dancing shoes at the ready!), were absolutely thrilled to win the ‘Self Catering Holiday Provider of the Year’ award for The Hollies Forest Lodges!

Ed Cowap, 3rd generation of The Hollies Farm Shop family, said when our Forest Lodges were announced as the winner I was delighted. Our team do a fabulous job of looking after the Lodges and our guests; from the initial enquiry to taking bookings, and from housekeeping to welcoming guests, each member of the team ensures everyone has an enjoyable stay. Big thanks to our team and to our loyal and wonderful customers for continuing to come and experience the Forest Lodges for themselves.

The Hollies team celebrated together on the dance floor (in fact some of us were the first up!), entertained with music by local Cheshire band, Soul Revolver.

Mark Livesey, Chief Executive of Marketing Cheshire, said: “The glittering Annual Tourism Awards Evening is a fantastic way of celebrating all that is best about Cheshire. The county has a wealth of extraordinary sites, accommodation and attractions and extraordinary individuals and teams that are continually innovating to remain at the ‘top of their game’. It is inspiring to publicly recognise the exceptional contribution that they make to both residents and visitors, from both home and abroad.”

“A highlight for everyone in Cheshire this year is Jodrell Bank being awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in recognition of its internationally significant heritage, science and cultural impact. For this astounding achievement, Jodrell Bank also wins this year’s Special Contribution to Tourism.”

Thank you to Marketing Cheshire and The Mere team for such a lovely and fun evening!
