British Sandwich Week

Sunday 11th May – Saturday 17th May 2014

A great opportunity to celebrate one of our best-loved foods – the British sandwich!

It is thought that the humble sandwich was ‘invented’ by the 4th Earl of Sandwich. He was a keen gambler and didn’t want to leave the gaming table so instead asked for some meat between two slices of bread – and this was the birth of the sandwich.

Both our Coffee Shop in Little Budworth and Concept Cafe in Lower Stretton have a variety of gourmet sandwiches available on their menus, all of which are made with fresh, local produce from the Farm Shop. These include; honey roast ham with Tracklements onion marmalade, the famous treacle cured bacon, Somerset brie and Tracklements cranberry sauce, chicken with bacon and Tracklements chilli jam, and the classic BLT!

If you prefer a traditional chip butty, then simply order a portion of hand cut chips or French fries with a warm ciabatta roll or fresh white sliced bread – Delicious!

Why not create your own masterpiece using products from our freshly baked bread range and cooked meats from The Hollies Delicatessen?

Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Sliced roast beef with Mrs Darlington’s horseradish sauce
  • Coronation chicken
  • Cheshire cheese and Mrs Darlington’s sweet apple chutney
  • Local free range eggs with Mrs Darlington’s traditional mayonnaise
  • The Hollies Butchery treacle cured bacon with Tracklements brown sauce
  • The Butchery’s homemade pork sausages with warm Tracklements onion marmalade
