Meet new local supplier to Little Budworth, Dene Bee Apiary Honey. Dene Bee Apiary is run by Alison Owen who has been keeping honeybees since early childhood, learning from both her grandfather and father. Alison’s hives are situated in the fertile countryside of Little Leigh in the heart of Cheshire, where the foraging is good.

Honeybees are truly amazing creatures having remained unchanged for 20 million years. It takes around 15,000 bees to make one pound of honey in a day. During this time they will have visited up to two million flowers and flown about 55,000 miles.

As well as collecting nectar the bees also collect pollen, some of which ends up in the honey. By introducing honey into their diet, hay fever sufferers can de-sensitise themselves. Naturally this works best with local honey, which will have the same pollen.

Dene Bee Honey is 100% natural with no additives or preservatives. The principal sugars in honey are fructose and dextrose, both of which are readily absorbed into the bloodstream for an instant energy boost. Natural honey also contains vitamins, minerals and antioxidants along with other beneficial ingredients.

Pick up a jar of Dene Bee Apiary Honey at The Hollies Farm Shop at Little Budworth and try it for yourself.
